Title Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence: Theory and Applications
Description The Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence (SETI) addresses one of the most important questions of all time: Are there other civilizations out there? In this course, we will acquire data from the largest telescopes on Earth at Arecibo and Green Bank. These radio telescopes can detect signals emitted thousands of light years away, enabling contact from a large fraction of the Milky Way Galaxy. We will write code to analyze the data and to search for artificial signals. In the process, we will learn fundamental concepts in astronomy, signal processing, computer science, and statistics.
