Over 50 years ago, EPSS PhD student Megan Li’s grandfather immigrated from Taiwan to pursue a PhD at UCLA. His dissertation, complete with hand drawn graphs, can be found in a library not far from where she now works.

Megan, now a third generation Bruin pursuing a PhD in SETI (the search for technosignatures by way of citizen science, outreach, and machine learning), shares a fascinating story about finding her own roots, out now in both English and Mandarin.
