EPSS graduate student Randy Flores is the lead author of a new study in Science Advances reporting the first direct measurements of the body temperature of Tyrannosaurus rex.
UCLA researchers have determined the body temperature of Tyrannosaurus rex for the first time, finding that the iconic dinosaur ran at about 97 degrees Fahrenheit. UCLA scientists Robert Eagle, Aradhna Tripati and Randy Flores used a technique that analyzes chemical bonds preserved in fossilized tooth enamel to reveal how T. rex regulated its body temperature more than 60 million years ago.
