Ming-Chang Liu Named 2026 Fellow of the Meteoritical Society

Ming-Chang Liu has been named a 2026 Fellow of the Meteoritical Society in recognition of his contributions to cosmochemistry and the study of the early solar system.

Specializing in the isotopic analysis of meteoritic materials, Liu investigates the origin and evolution of the solar system through radiogenic, spallogenic, and nucleosynthetic anomalies preserved in ancient planetary materials.

The Meteoritical Society specifically recognized Liu for his significant contributions to short-lived radionuclide systematics in refractory inclusions and the development of ion probe measurements. His research has helped scientists better understand the astrophysical environment and timescales of early solar system formation.

In addition to his research, Liu has played an active leadership role in the meteoritics community, including serving as vice chair of the Meteoritical Society in 2023 and contributing to public engagement efforts surrounding Mars sample science and planetary formation research.
