Early formation of the Moon 4.51 billion years ago

EPSS researcher Mélanie Barboni and collaborators have determined that the Moon may have formed as early as 60 million years after the formation of the solar system. The results are published in Science Advances and described in a UCLA press release. EPSS co-authors include Profs. Kevin McKeegan and Edward Young, researcher Issaku Kohl, and former graduate student Patrick Boehnke.
