EPS SCI 10 Students Watch Occultation of Mars

Four students from EPSS 10 with the Tele-Vue rooftop telescope.

On January 30, 2023, the Moon occulted Mars, and undergraduate students in Professor Dave Paige’s EPS SCI 10: Exploring Mars, the Red Planet class were there to observe it!

Watching through the department’s Tele-Vue telescope on the roof of the Geology Building, the students witnessed the waxing gibbous moon eclipse, or cover, the bright red planet during the occultation. In addition to providing front-row seats to the stunning astrological event, the telescope was also used to create a video of the occultation.
