STEM education changes lives. It leads to positive social mobility for students, drives solutions to global challenges, and has the potential to increase the quality of life for people around the world. However, STEM education also faces challenges: diversity and inclusion, the rapidly evolving future of the workforce, and the potential to perpetuate, rather than reduce, societal inequities. Building on experience as a space scientist and now President of one of our nation’s first technological Universities, Dr. Laurie Leshin will share her perspective on the challenges and opportunities facing STEM and higher education today, as well as ideas on how we can ensure that STEM continues to be a force for good on Earth (and beyond!).
